TOLD BY turns your real family stories and memories into beautifully illustrated children’s picture books. You share a memory through a guided conversation, and we write an age-appropriate story and create custom illustrations in the style you choose.

Most books take on average 30 minutes to create. You’ll answer a few questions about the child, share your memory in a guided interview, and then review the story and illustrations. You can take breaks and come back any time — your progress is saved.

Books are tailored for children aged 3 and up. You pick from three age levels during creation (3+, 5+, 7+), and the story’s language, length, and complexity are automatically adjusted to fit.

Yes! You can edit the story text on every page and give feedback on illustrations to regenerate them. You have full control before ordering.

Your stories and descriptions are sent to specialised services (Anthropic for text, Google Gemini for images) to generate your book. If you upload a character photo, it is sent to Google Gemini to create an illustrated version — photos are not used to train models and Google may retain them for up to 55 days for safety monitoring. Only the generated illustration is used in your book. We do not use your content to train any models. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

We offer two paper types: matte (120gsm, soft finish, no glare) and glossy (200gsm, vibrant colours, smooth finish). Both are hardcover with a matte-laminated cover.

A printed hardcover book costs CHF 39–49 in Switzerland and €39–49 in the rest of Europe (including the UK), plus shipping. Price scales with story length — shorter books cost less, longer books a little more. Shipping is CHF 9 within Switzerland and €7 within Europe. Glossy and matte paper are the same price.

Printing takes around 5–7 business days, plus 3–5 business days for shipping depending on your location. You’ll receive a tracking link once your book ships.

Yes! You can order up to 10 copies of the same book in a single order. Each copy can have its own personal dedication — perfect for gifting to different grandchildren or family members. Shipping is charged only once per order.

Books can be created in English, German (with Swiss localisation), French, or Italian. The interface supports all four languages — use the language toggle in the header to switch.

Yes! When you order a printed book, you can add a personal dedication to each copy. The dedication appears on the title page — a lovely way to make each book even more special for the person receiving it.

Each book is a 21×21 cm square hardcover with a matte-laminated cover. Books contain 10–20 illustrated spreads (illustration with facing text, 20–40 pages), plus a cover and title page.

Absolutely. You can reorder any book from your books page. Your previous dedications are pre-filled so you can quickly place a new order — or change them for different recipients.

Once an order is placed, the book goes into production and can no longer be edited. However, the book itself stays in your account — you can still make changes and place a new order with the updated version.

Yes! You can buy a gift voucher that covers one printed book including shipping. The recipient creates their own story and enters the voucher code when ordering — they get the book for free. Gift vouchers have no expiry date.
