Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
Acceptance
By using toldby.you (“the service”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The Service
toldby.you helps you create personalised children’s picture books from your own stories and memories. The service uses artificial intelligence to generate story text and illustrations based on your input.
Your Account
You need an account to create books. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must provide a valid email address for authentication.
AI-Generated Content
Stories and illustrations are generated by AI based on your input. While we strive for quality, AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or unexpected results. You should review all content before ordering a printed book. We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be factually accurate, free from errors, or suitable for any particular purpose.
Your Content
You retain ownership of the stories, memories, and descriptions you provide. By using the service, you grant us a licence to process this content through our AI services to create your book. We do not use your content to train AI models.
Printed Books
When you order a printed book, you enter into a purchase agreement. Prices for the book and shipping are displayed separately in your local currency (CHF or EUR). Books are printed and shipped by our fulfillment partner. Delivery times vary by location.
Refunds
Since each book is custom-printed to your specifications, we cannot accept returns for change of mind. The statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to the consumer’s specifications (EU Directive 2011/83 Art. 16(c)). If your book arrives damaged or with a printing defect, please contact us at stories@toldby.you and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
Prohibited Use
You may not use the service to create content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right to refuse to print any book that violates these terms.
Limitation of Liability
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific order in question.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
Online Dispute Resolution
The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration body.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify you of significant changes via email.
